Yeah! and Yeah The Book is a collaboration project, launched by photographer Claudia Fried, that brought together a group of women, working behind and in front of the camera. Claudia Fried and stylist /journalist Tsemaye Opubor put together a group of women, to create a series of intimate portraits in the space between fashion and art. The women are not models but personalities with self expression and they were very involved in how they wanted to be portrayed. The end result surprised the participants who showed unfamiliar sides of themselves. The pictures are taken in a hotel suite in Stockholm and shows the five women, with a lot of skin, attitude, personality and strength. The goal of the project was to show strong women in a context that is often associated with fashion, sex and commerce. - I wanted to see what happened if I let the models to take control of how they wanted to be portrayed and what happened in the process, says Claudia Fried. By taking these series of portraits and making Yeah, The Book, Fried went back to her professional roots, to the reason she became a photographer in the first place.” “In this time of digital photography and the Internet, I often feel that my work pops up somewhere out there for a minute, and then disappears in a never-ending stream of imagery,” I was craving to make something physical; something one can touch and hold, something that will be around for a long time, for arts sake, without any commercial purpose. Meet Agnes, Anna, Charlotte, Isabella, and Tora. Take a look at their portraits. Take a break from the disposable images that fill your everyday visual world and discover these portraits of unique, strong, beautiful and sexy women. Exhibition ran June 13- August 20, 2014 at Snickarbacken 7 in Stockholm, Sweden. Yeah The Book and prints are available for purchase. For inquiries please send email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
